Side of Mountain IVRY-Laurentians
oil on canvas | 22 x 28 in

It is the simplicity of subject matter which with the pleasure of this painting.  The image is of trees and land and a bit of sky but painted so lushly that the feeling on the canvas is anything but empty.  Letovsky achieves this through his exuberant use of texture, placing layer upon layer, until the canvas is filled; from the blue sky spotted with clouds to the bright green trees with their hits of light and dark to the billows of white snow at their base.  Given the background of this artist and the reputation of those artists who taught and influenced him, this piece holds great history.
