Great Bear Lake, La Pine Bay, 1939
Circa.1939 | 12" x 10"
In 1939, Franz Johnston spent 5 months at Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territories. This piece looks fondly back on that time, displaying a peaceful waterfront scene of a lone cottage that overlooks the billowing lake. The sky peeks through the clouds, shining light on Johnston’s texturized backdrop of trees and mountains, in his signature linear style.
